Frequently Asked Questions

about The Isles of Glencoe Hotel and Leisure Centre

Getting there

Enclosed with your reservation is a map which you can also download by clicking here. The Isles is just off the main A82 Glasgow to Fort William road at the village of Ballachulish. It is well signposted. Coming from the south if you get to a roundabout you've gone too far so go right on round it and head back again. Coming from the North if you reach the village of Glencoe then you've gone too far.

For local road conditions call ahead on 0871 222 3420 or visit ITV teletext page 160. Click here for links to local weather forecasts and route maps.

Your arrival

When you arrive at The Isles, we have two large car parks. There are a small number of car parking spaces right at the front door including two disabled spaces. If it's easier for you, you are welcome to park temporarily just outside the front door to load and unload your luggage. Please ask if you would like any help with your luggage - we also have trolleys available. You may find it more convenient to check in at reception without your bags and we can then identify the most convenient parking space for your room.

Check in time -
3pm onwards. If you arrive earlier we will be delighted to store your bags for you.

Check out time -
11am. Again we are happy to keep your bags safe for you if needed.

If you are staying on with us, our housekeepers will need access to your room before noon if you wish it serviced - otherwise we will simply leave a bale of fresh towels and a supply of Tea/Coffee outside your door.

What is the Isles actually like?

The Isles is a very informal hotel - the atmosphere comes from the large number of families who use the hotel and the fact that we have a lively restaurant and Leisure Centre. There is no dress code for the restaurant where people enjoy dressing up or down!

When can we use the Leisure facilities?

The pool, sauna, steam room, turbo bath and exercise room (computerised bicycle, running machine and Versa-climber) are open from 7:00am to 10:00pm (8:00pm for children). Towels for use in the Leisure Centre are hired out at reception at £1 each - Top Deck guests will find complimentary towels in their room. We have recently improved the environment and facilities in the Exercise Room. To do this we have relocated it to an annex 100 metres away. It is helpful if you pre-book the exercise room and sunbed with reception.

Children under 16 must be accompanied in the pool or exercise room by an adult

What are the meal times?

Meal Times Comments
Table d'hôte Dinner 6:30pm - 9:30pm
We will ask you to indicate your dining time as this avoids us having to ask you to wait when you come to the restaurant.
We change our dinner menu daily to reflect the availability of the best local produce and guarantee that all of the choices are created freshly with care in our kitchen. In planning our menus we seek to offer you a choice between dishes prepared in the classical simple Scottish style and alternative dishes which have world influences in their seasoning and presentation.
Breakfast 7:30 - 9:30am We invite you to help yourself to our buffet featuring healthy options or a traditional cooked Scottish breakfast. Please note that the buffet can be extremely busy in the last 30/40 minutes - especially on Sundays.
Bistro 11am-6pm
For lunch or meals at other times of the day our Bistro menu offers something to suit all tastes.
Sunday Lunch 12:00am - 4.00pm Enjoy a Sunday Roast or order from our Bistro menu.
Coffee Menu 7am-6pm Choose from our selection of speciality coffees and teas

Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are available in your room, or you may order beverages in the lounge area and charge these to your account.

What about children's meals?

If they wish, kids can dine at the Children's Dinner Table at 6pm. The menu features Melon & Strawberries, Super Burger, Fish Shapes, Pasta, Carrot Cake, Fruit and more. The Children's Table should be booked direct on the "kids blackboard" at the restaurant entrance. After dinner we usually show some children's films in a special room. Details are posted during the day on the kids blackboard.

Alternatively your children are welcome to dine with you later in the restaurant when they can choose from the Table d'hôte menu or a children's menu. Children choosing to dine from our table d' hôte menu will be charged a supplement of £7.50 / €11.25*.

Dining around the loch

We are pleased to offer the opportunity for you to dine at our sister hotels The Ballachulish Hotel, The Lodge on the Loch Hotel and The Oban Caledonian Hotel (closed as per price list). There is no supplement to dine at The Ballachulish Hotel or The Oban Caledonian Hotel, however for guests wishing to dine at The Lodge on the Loch Hotel a £10 per person supplement applies (those staying in Top Deck Rooms may enjoy this facility free of charge). Please book your table as early as possible after arrival at the hotel to avoid disappointment as all the restaurants can be extremely busy and tables are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. You can check out sample menus and wine lists for the other hotels by clicking here.

What is your smoking policy?

There is a strict non-smoking policy in all but the designated areas of the hotel's lounge.
