Green Tourism Gold Award
In 2000 The Isles became the first Hotel in the local area to
achieve Gold in the Green Tourism Business Scheme. In 2005 the
hotel was proud to retain its Gold award with an increased score
of 91%. The main areas of achievement and improvement were:
- Management
- Water & Effluents
- Wildlife & Landscape
The Isles team are committed to improving the standards already
in place and continually work towards new objectives.
Current standards include:
- Close monitoring of water and electricity usage
- Provision of Doggy Bins and Bags
- Bird tables and feeders erected to encourage wildlife to the
site
- Recycling of glass, cardboard and waste paper, including the
sponsorship of bottle banks for the local community
Current objectives are:
- Introduce nature walks and wildlife spotting trips
- Source recycled paper for use on menus, guest bills etc
Information on The Isles and the Green Tourism Business Scheme
is displayed in guest bedrooms and we regularly received positive
customer feedback on our efforts towards protecting the breath-taking
landscape in which we live.
